in 1919, Texas became the 9th state to allow the 19th amendment which granted women the right to vote! in 1920, the 19th was finally added to the U.S. constitution!
in Texas, governor William Hobby made a deal with suffragists: if women campaigned for Hobby and prohibition, he would grant women's suffrage. in , women could vote in primary elections after campaigning for Hobby. Hobby ended up winning governship.
some suffrage clubs like Women's Christian Temprance Union, fought for more than just equality and the right to vote, they also fought for prohibition or the banning of alchohol.
